Counselor, Pre-LMHC (she/her)
Andrea's work as a mental health professional has allowed her the opportunity to work with a diverse range of individuals, ranging from pre-k to high school transition age to adults. She has experience working with students with exceptionalities, specifically children on the autism spectrum and those who are d/Deaf and hard of hearing. She also has experience working in dual diagnosis of substance use and mental health concerns.
Andrea uses a humanistic/person centered approach to counseling. She believes that each individual's treatment is most effective when it is as unique and individual as they are. She utilizes concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, though she often collaborates with clients on treatment approaches to explore and is there to support and guide them.

What I Usually Need to Help
I usually need to know an individual's goals and/or their presenting concerns, their readiness to change, any accommodations that would ensure an individual's accessibility, any previous diagnosis, and their expectations for engaging with treatment.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
The purpose of psychotherapy is to provide a safe, inclusive, and accessible space for an individual to explore their own thoughts and ideas related to a given presenting concern as well as to provide ongoing support and care to that individual so that they are most equipped to grow, learn, and adapt to the barriers that they are experiencing.
What I Love About Being a Therapist
I love and am so grateful to be able to work as a therapist as it provides me the opportunity to cross paths with, learn from, and grow alongside a diverse range of individuals. Being a therapist allows me to support our community at various levels and in doing so I hope that I can continue to impart knowledge and empathy back into our community.
