(she, her)

I draw on strength-based and client-centered interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy and play therapy. I like to incorporate mindfulness techniques, mind-body connectedness and other holistic elements as I work to empower individuals to identify and address their challenges and struggles and to build resilience as they navigate and explore pathways toward positive change and growth.I am adept at meeting individuals where they are, building a rapport with them and making them feel comfortable with me.

I think I am particularly good at helping people identify their strengths, skills and positive qualities so we can build on those things to support whatever challenges or obstacles they are facing.I am always amazed at how resilient and adaptable human beings are, and despite how daunting it can be to form new neural pathways in our brains, everyone is capable of change and growth.

My Thoughts about Therapy

How Psychotherapy Can Help?

What amazes me is how resilient and adaptable human beings are, and despite how daunting it can be to form new neural pathways in our brains, everyone is capable of change and growth. Psychotherapy can help people identify negative or unhelpful thoughts, patterns, behaviors and emotions. Ultimately, it can help individuals better understand themselves and how to navigate life more successfully by developing positive coping skills. Psychotherapy can help people more effectively prepare to function in a more positive, healthy manner.

What I love about being a Therapist?

I have always had a "gift" for being able to connect with and relate to people -- by talking to them AND to listening. Both of my parents naturally put people at ease, so I assume I got it from both of them. In all of the jobs I have held, talking to people was always a big part of them.

When I was a journalist (sports copy editor), one of my favorite parts of the job was to speak to coaches about their teams and their performances, individually and as a team. I loved the success/Cinderella stories as much as I did the bittersweet/poignant and heartbreaking ones.

Important Factors while choosing a Therapist

Like anything in this world, there are good and not so good fits for us because we are all unique individuals. Finding the right therapist is not unlike finding the "right" person for us, the "right" primary care physician, the "right" friends/social circle, the "right" nail salon, etc. It may take a little while, but keep at it if the first, second, third ones don't seem like a good match for you.
